A collection of historical manuscripts acquired by Hartford resident William B. Goodwin. Includes correspondence between Josiah Tattnall and Ebenezer Jackson, a list of the members of Col. Crane's regiment in 1780, a warrant from South Carolina, a 1780 account kept by Capt. Welch, a letter written by Col. Jeremiah Wadsworth, correspondence between Ebenezer Jackson and his son Charles, and correspondence of Samuel Wells of Glastonbury, Connecticut.

Ebenezer Jackson (1763-1837), the son of Michael and Ruth Jackson, was born in Newton, Massachusetts. At the age of 14, he enlisted in his father's regiment, the 8th Massachusetts Infantry; he served until 1783. Jackson moved to Savannah, Georgia, where he became a merchant, selling rice and cotton. He was also involved with the Tennessee Company and owned two plantations. William Goodwin was born in Hartford, Connecticut, the son of Rev. Francis Goodwin and Mary Alsop Jackson Goodwin. He attended Saint Paul's School in New Hampshire, Trinity College, and graduated from Yale in 1888. He worked for the Aetna Insurance company for 40 years as a sepcial agent in Ohio, Seattle, and San Francisco.
